Bulimba Barracks

Located in inner east of Brisbane, Bulimba Barracks is a future icon site of Brisbane. The site is a former Defence Force site and DC8 Studio teamed with Lendlease on the open tender bid for the land. Our commission was to undertake the Masterplanning, Urban Design and key product design for the project.
Encompassing some 850 dwellings, the masterplan also included the adaptive reuse of the some of the culturally significant Defence buildings creating a true mixed use project of residential and retail outcomes.
In collaboration with Gimballa and Lat 27, DC8 Studio were involved in the integration of First Nations Peoples stories of the site into interpretative elements in the design. DC8 Studio worked with Lendlease on integrating the Barracks site into the adjacent Cairncross site to create a site of State Significance. Ultimately the Lendlease bid was unsuccessful.
